Spread the word – vote WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks became the media, now we can become the government
September 1st, 2013
We can change the political discourse in this country, we can change the political landscape. Next week, and despite it being unimaginable now, we can have a brave new Australia, a never-before-seen landscape, our national consciousness enriched. With less than a week to the federal election we have the opportunity before us to make this happen. The Senate-only party, The WikiLeaks Party, has three candidates in three States who are all close to being elected. We need your primary vote. If Julian Assange, Kellie Tranter and myself are elected, hence from July next year the “balance of power” in this nation, where the two major parties do not agree on proposed legislation, may well be in the hands of those striving for real democracy – The WikiLeaks Senators.
We will stand by our calls for transparency, accountability, justice – for each piece of legislation to be examined standalone, on its merits; no deals, no buckling to various influences – and we will ensure full and authentic disclosure, for a public record to be constructed for each piece of legislation so we get legislation right – for all parliamentarians to tap into and make informed decisions. It’s about all of us not just some of us. WikiLeaks is about all of us, that is how it should have always been.
We will stand solid as bona fide independents, the first real independents in the House of Review.
WikiLeaks, the publishing organisation, “opens” Governments, takes on “lying” Governments, has stared down some of the most powerful clandestine organisations in the world, exposed truths for the sake of the public interest, in the striving for the common good, for the aspirations of a coalescing humanity. Seven years later WikiLeaks continues despite everything thrown at it to shut it down. Now, the next step in the movement, is the socio-political movement; Where WikiLeaks became the media – indeed where the people became the media – now WikiLeaks can likewise become the government; we, the people can enter government, we can hold government to account and to a transparency the like never-before-known.
The WikiLeaks Party is a never-before-seen, never-before-known opportunity for the striving for authentic democracy. Take it, please take this opportunity to bring on three WikiLeaks Senators. Spread the word far and wide day-in day-out. There is no fair press that will allow us to have a say, and there are those threatened by us and who are doing what they can to prevent us from being elected, but we are much needed, we all know this, and we can happen.
I have done all the math on what it will take for us be elected and I have staked my reputation on this math. Give us your vote and all the right people will be elected.
We need to breakdown monopoly politics, we need to diversify the Senate’s voices.
I stand alongside all those I have given my life to, and your voices will be heard and respected in the Senate if I were to be elected.
The WikiLeaks Party will further develop, it will strengthen, it will be what it needs to be and it will be the sum of all our hopes. Let nothing stand in the way of what is right, what is good, let nothing stand in the way.
Julian Assange, Gerry Georgatos and Kellie Tranter can be elected Senators, for transparency, accountability, for justice.
Please spread the word. Don’t stop. We should not have to delay justice for another three years and risk losing it altogether.
WikiLeaks is still a real chance, but only if you make it happen, for history and for all our sakes. If we are elected, we together will stand on the precipice of a cultural shift.
Soon I will be in the Supreme Court again refusing to have my journalism removed from the public record. I will once again stand alone but solid in my integrity with the smash of legal consequence all around me.
Who is there to help me, there isn’t anyone… Shield laws? When will they eventuate? They won’t without WikiLeaks in the Senate, the rest is talk. I don’t know of any other journalists who have stood as I have stood unrepresented refusing to allow the truth removed from the public record, from the public interest.
WikiLeaks Senators are desperately needed but we can’t do it without your primary vote… We are a real chance if enough of you vote for us straight up, and then do your preferences as you like.
WikiLeaks can’t do the paid advertising, doesn’t get the fair press, can’t respond to many attacks on us because we don’t have the resources to be heard or given a fair audience, because we are still young… However we can have you, people power, your vote, the spreading of the word, the common sense and heart and soul of those who think deeply about the imperatives that define WikiLeaks… For WikiLeaks Senators in Vic (Assange), NSW (Tranter) and WA (myself) we need you to spread the word day in day out everywhere, everywhere, to everyone you know.
As a few have now said to me, if by miracle or prayer, through your primary vote, I were to be elected to the Senate, “…you would not be forgotten” -this from people I have represented in Tribunals, this from people I have fought for that others would not touch, this from people who I got the justice or some justice for that others could not or would not, this from people who reminded me of the sacrifice I made and the persecution I endured when I blew the whistle in a particular institution, where I had sat on its board, and after exhausting every mechanism to eliminate cultures of wrong-doing and to remedy ills, one morning some years ago I then emailed the thousands of souls who made up that institution… “I will never forget that open letter you emailed that morning… you changed everything for all of us for the better from that day… that’s why I came here this evening, for you, because you are who should be in the Senate… I am praying for you…”
The circumstance where I am a chance for the Senate will never arise again, and in the week left to September 7 I am on edge, nervous in the hope that people will indeed spread the word, day in day out, that you will all dig deep to see why I’m needed in the Senate, a never-before-seen type in the Senate, who will carry with him unheard voices, untold narratives, who will stand up and be counted in such a sustained way that on all I know and live by who will right wrongs and like those who stand with me in this campaign where we have been beaten around but still stand, we will expose corruption, correct the records, bring on the truth, challenge everything that needs to be challenged.
I have spent a lifetime among our poorest, the homeless, among the impoverished of our First Nations peoples, among our most disadvantaged and at-risk, those who injustice scorns, and if I am elected their voices will be heard, most of them for the first time, in the Senate.
If I were to be elected to the Senate, my running mate Suresh Rajan, former president of the Ethnic Communities Council WA, president of Epilepsy WA, president of the National Disability Alliance, would remain right by my side, his expertise and lived experiences would also add their weight and guidance to the Senate, to Canberra, to Australia.
I ask that you dig deep for a few minutes and reflect on why I am running alongside Julian Assange for the Senate, and seek the truth in all this, and why I and Suresh have put ourselves out like we have, and contemplate what it will mean to have three WikiLeaks Senators, and to contemplate what it will mean to have a Senator Julian Assange, and contemplate what it will mean to have a Senator Gerry Georgatos.
I ask not only for your important primary vote, I ask that you share this far and wide, Facebook it, Twitter it, Linkedin, and so on, email it, and just keep on speaking to everyone, give as much of your energy as you can to having us elected and we will be indebted to you by a duty to everyone. Much respect.
