COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT – ADELAIDE [SA]

UntitledStrong Black Voices – Congress Public Meeting

Wednesday 29 January in Adelaide

Co-Chair Kirstie Parker will be attending to discuss federal funding cuts to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation, including Congress.

On December 20 Nigel Scullion announced that the federal government in unlikely to honour the $15m funding commitment for Congress included in last year’s federal budget.

We will continue to fight for the issues that are important to us as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we promise our members and supporters that we will continue as a strong, fearless national representative body.

The new Government has shown that they do not support real decision making for our families and communities through a national representative body chose by First Peoples, for First Peoples.

Our Co-Chairs will now be holding urgent meetings with members and supporters in each state to update them on the situation.

We ask for your support and assistance in attending these meetings.

Please find the attached meeting notice and forward this to your members and networks to encourage people to attend.
